ACP Program Will End April 2024

March 15, 2024 Update:

Important Notice to ACP Participants about your ACP Internet Credit:

The FCC has announced that April 2024 will be the last fully funded month of the ACP program. This means that ACP participants will receive the last ACP credit on their April bill and their May bill will automatically default to undiscounted rates and general terms and conditions of service.

Current ACP participants have a right to select their service provider and may elect to change your service provider at the end of the ACP. In addition, you have a right to change your Milford Communications service plan or package or to opt out of continuing your service at the end of the ACP. To make changes to your services, contact us.

February 6, 2024 Update:

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is expected to end this spring unless Congress appropriates additional funding. As a result, the FCC has begun taking steps to wind down the ACP program.

What is ACP?

In 2021, Congress established the Affordable Connectivity Program in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and appropriated $14.2 billion for the program. The FCC was tasked to develop and implement the ACP as well as ACP outreach and awareness activities. As of today, over 22 million households are enrolled and receiving the ACP monthly benefit.

What does that mean?

If congress does not approve additional funding for the ACP program:

  • No new ACP enrollments will be accepted after February 7, 2024.
  • Households that are currently enrolled on an ACP internet plan will continue to receive their ACP benefit until ACP funds run out (anticipated to be April 2024) as long as the household remains enrolled and eligible for the benefit.
  • When ACP funds run out, households participating in the ACP will no longer receive the ACP discounts.
