Phishing emails are getting seriously good at blending in with messages from companies you trust. That makes it a whole lot easier to get “hooked” if you are not paying close attention. 
These emails might look real, but those links can reel you into fake login pages built to capture your information. Once you click into any links, you may notice that the logo is slightly off, the layout feels a little strange, or you get an unexpected error message.
Small details like these are often the biggest red flags that something phish-y is going on.
The good news is that phishing emails tend to use similar bait tactics. Once you know what to look for, you can "just keep swimming!" 
Here are some examples of recent scam emails we’ve seen:
Watch for these 5 signs:
- Unusual tone or suspicious links—If the message sounds off, trust your instinct. Always double-check links or buttons before clicking.
2. “Act now” messaging—Scammers want you to panic and rush. Stay calm and report on.
3. Odd looking email addresses—Look beyond just the name displayed. Even though it says, "Premier Communications," make sure that the email is legit.
(Coming from a random looking Gmail…classic.)
4. Requests for private information—Milford Communications will never ask customers to verify account information through an email link.
5. Errors or poor design—Missing elements or typos are a dead giveaway.
If something does not feel right, trust that instinct. Take a moment to check for the warning signs, report anything suspicious to our team, and clear it out of your inbox once you know it is not legit.
A few extra seconds can be the difference between staying safe and getting hooked. Keep an eye out, trust your gut, and do not take the bait.
